Looking After Your Handmade Cold Process Soap Bar

Oliv & Koko cold process soaps are made with natural oils and butters.

We do not use chemicals to harden the soap.

The best way to make your cold process soap bar last longer is to drain it in between uses and allowing your soap to air. This ensures it does not become soggy and dissolve too quickly. The key is to keep your soap dry when it is not in use.

When finding the best soap dish, look out for good draining holes, deep grooves or slots for the water to run off, and so the soap does not sit in water.

Place soap dishes or racks in the shower out of the direct stream of water as the soap can wash away very quickly and become soft.

Avoid leaving your soap bar in the heat or sun as it may melt and make it softer, the essential oil scents will also fade quicker.

Keep your soaps in a dry area whilst not using. The glycerin in the handmade cold process soaps attract moisture or water including steam and may make your soaps become soft.

Tips:

Place your soap and dish away from your laundry or kitchen basin taps, instead of directly underneath as water may be dripping onto the soap every time someone turns the tap on and off. This will prevent wet soft soap.

If you have a soap tray that catches the water, be sure to tip the water out after each use (soap sitting on a top rack can draw moisture up).

You may wish to use two soap bars alternatively so that each can dry out between its next use.
